Mark Giannini of Memphis is one of the
Tennessee city's true success stories. He is a Memphis native who grew up
there, attended its Christian Brothers University, and started one of its most
successful companies of recent years.
And he is staying true to his roots. Mark
Giannini is one of the city's most ardent and enthusiastic supporters,
providing time and money to charitable causes ranging from the arts to
education, and less tangible civic enterprises. He has been a technology donor
to WKNO-TV, the city's public television station, and a technology provider
from the Komen Race for the Cure, helping to raise funds to research breast
cancer.
He is also a major supporter of the House
of Mews, having donated in excess of thirty-six thousand dollars to help the
facility remain open. The House of Mews shelters and advocates for the cat
population in Memphis, educating the public on the humane treatment of its
feline friends, working to prevent the abuse of cats and other animals, and
encouraging respect. The House of Mews would not be possible without the
generous donations by supporters like Mark Giannini of Memphis. It is staffed
entirely by unpaid volunteers who come from all walks of life, with their love
and respect for cats their common bond.
As a cat lover himself, Mark Giannini of
Memphis was intrigued in early 2014 of reports on scientific studies that
showed people who prefer cats over dogs tend to be different personality types
than those who prefer dogs over cats. Cat lovers, the study suggested, tend to
be more introverted, more open minded, more non-conformist, and even more
intelligent than people who identify themselves as dog lovers. Mark Giannini of
Memphis is not so sure he takes the study all that seriously, but it did give
him a good laugh.
